Artist Bio

Profile picGadsden, Alabama artist D.A. Reddick (Tony) has gained considerable local fame as a portrait artist. Even though he has had no formal training since he began painting shortly after graduating from college, he is successful painting pictures of historical figures, sports heroes, and children in their natural settings.

His commissioned works range from a 50th Anniversary portrait of the Alabama Teachers Credit Union to action portraits of pro athletes Chris Goode and Antonio Langham, who starred at the University of Alabama, former Auburn Tigers, Steve Wallace, Carlos Rogers and Carnell Williams, and even Mrs. Carolyn Smith, mother of actor Will Smith. Utilizing acrylic on canvas as his medium of choice, Tony is most comfortable painting children. When asked why, he simply points to the beauty of a child’s innocence, and states with a laugh: “they rarely ask me to try to make them look better.” He does, however, take pride in making sure that his clients are completely satisfied with a finished project.

In addition to his leisurely pursuits as an artist, Tony is an administrator with the Gadsden City School System. He and his wife, Belinda, have been married for 33 years. They have two children, Lindsay and Evan.
